God gave me a burden for family life in 2015. I began to notice how cultural interpretations of the bible had made many bible believing, Holy Spirit led, born again Christians (including my husband and I) struggle with their family lives.
We’ve had the unique opportunity of living in four different countries and seen the impact of cultural influences on our interpretation of scriptures and how it affects family life which includes management of finances, raising the children and dealing with third parties including ministry, friends and extended family members.
We’ve also had many opportunities to minister to different age groups in different churches in Canada and the USA on this topic with great testimonies of how the Lord is opening the eyes of many to appreciate biblical truths in a new light.
A common example is the issue of the man being the provider for the family... really? No. I searched the scriptures together with close friends of ours who teach the bible as well and there is not one verse that says that the man is the provider for his nuclear family. It’s a cultural misinterpretation of what the bible said in 1st Timothy 5.
God has told us that he is in the business of restoring families to the original dream that he had in the beginning and we are excited to partner with him by his grace.
