The Akindeles

BIOGRAPHY

Florence Olukemi Akindele has been a Medical Doctor since 1991 and became a Specialist Obstetrician/Gynaecologist in 2000. She then obtained a Masters degree in Public Health in 2007.   

Florence or ‘Kemi as she is popularly called has worked in various aspects of women's health at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels in four different countries and has spoken in many conferences in Nigeria, Swaziland, South Africa, the UK, Canada, and the United States of America. She currently practices Obstetrics and Gynaecology in St. Paul Alberta, Canada where she has personally delivered close to 2000 babies in the last decade. She has a passion for the total wellbeing of women and is presently pushing for more unique and culture-sensitive care for new moms in the immediate post-delivery period. 

She is married to Olabode and they are blessed with four children, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren.

 

Lorie Rutten

BIOGRAPHY

Lorie is a wife, mother, and grandmother. She got married in 1981 to Leonard in Edmonton, Alberta. Her family lived in various cities in Tanzania, East Africa for 15 yrs, and then in South Africa for 14years.

The Ruttens are blessed with a multicolored family of 4 adult children, 3 of whom are married and have their own children.

Their family enjoys skiing, camping, bike riding, and the outdoors.

She will be sharing her story from the heart of a mother who has a child or children in a minority group where ever she lived.

 

Dr. Gabriel Emamezi Francis

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Gabriel Francis is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Joy bringers. An NGO and a public benefit organization founded in 2005 whose mission is “To see people in families transformed from disempowerment to maximum fruitfulness.”

Dr. Francis holds a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of Nigeria. He also has a Master of Arts degree in Leadership from the Global University, Springfield, Missouri, USA. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Transformational Leadership with the Bakke Graduate University, Texas, USA. His doctorate thesis is on Transforming Communities: Developing Market Place Compliant Families.

Dr. Francis and his wife Gloria started one of the leading schools in Namibia (Liberty Heritage School) in the year 2000. Dr. Francis is a dual citizen of Nigeria and South Africa; he lives in Johannesburg with his wife and three adult children in different professions.
